"The Night Garden" was an interactive sculptural installation that took place at the Mesa Arts Center's "Spark! Festival" in 2018. This first photo is from before the festival began.
The LED lights in the large white "caterpillar" sculpture in the center were programmed to respond to sound, so they changed color along with the music accompanying the aerialist troupe that performed on the wall behind at night.
At a hands-on station, visitors could create a "flower" and a botanical identification tag naming their flower and then attach it anywhere on the installation.
The ceramic elements of this installation are cast translucent porcelain with programmable LED lights inside.
The "cactus blobs" were crocheted out of upcycled tshirts.
